Manny Roman is a photographer based in NY.
What do you do?
I'm a portrait photographer, a dreamer, and an advocate for models and artists.
What is your favorite spot in NYC?
I have many, but 3 that stand out are Central Park, Marble Dessert Bar in the West Village and While We Were Young restaurant in Tribeca.
What’s on your summer playlist?
In the mornings I love Ballade No.4 in F Minor, OP.52 by Frédéric Chopin, in the afternoon I play LET'S DANCE by David Bowie.
What inspires you?
Women. They have always been my inspiration, from the classic beauty of Lauren Bacall to the sultry appeal of Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. I’ve always admired the way women move, laugh, and flip their hair.
Favorite project you’ve worked on?
Currently working on my 1st exhibit where I celebrate women titled, ESSENCE OF A WOMAN. I had planned to show in 2020 but covid19 halted the show. Hopefully I'll be able to show this coming September in hope's we don't have anymore covid restrictions.
How do you break out of a creative funk?
I play my favorite music. It truly heals my soul.
Favorite form of self care?
Walking the streets of NYC for hours, watching nostalgic films and enjoying a great espresso martini.
What’s some creative advice you live by?
Don't be in a hurry to do something just because you want to. Hold on to your vision and be sure to align your desires with your actions. When the moment comes you'll remember the beauty of the process and you'll realize that this is exactly the way it was supposed to be.
