What do you do?

I'm a photo + video producer and creative director based in Los Angeles. I work primarily with fashion and beauty brands to help them produce content and campaigns for their upcoming launches, collections, or other marketing initiatives.

Where do you find inspiration?

I love anything old. Old movies, old magazines, old photographs, and old architecture. History is a big source of inspiration for me. As a creative, I think it's important for your historical frame of reference to be expansive. What was popular during said era? How did they dress? What was the popular style or art during that time? Was there a popular color? How did women wear their hair? How did they entertain themselves? How did the social constructs of the time affect their creative expression? The more we know, the more we're exposed to, and the deeper we can dig to find inspiration.

How do you break out of a creative funk?

I have a personal "creative" to-do list, and when I'm in a funk, I try to tackle something on my list in hopes of being re-inspired. What's on my list? Spend a day at the museum. Take a tour of a historic home. Visit the magazine stand and buy a glossy or two. I spend so much time inside and on my computer while working, so a little fresh air and a field trip always ease a creative funk.

What's some creative advice you live by?

I saw this meme floating around social a while ago, saying, "Creative people need time to just sit around and do nothing." I reposted it immediately. My next great idea is just on the other side of a period of rest. In a society where we glorify being busy, it's taken me a moment to learn how to accept and even appreciate the quiet moments. They're an integral part of the creative process.

Who would your dream creative collaboration include?

I'd love to be involved with a TV show or a movie as a producer. I love telling stories. Anything I can do to help bring that to life on the silver screen would be a major dream come true for me!

What is your favorite creative outlet for personal enjoyment?

I love getting up early on a Saturday morning and going estate sale shopping. My work is primarily on fashion and beauty, so spending weekends in the interiors world really excites me. I mostly shop for decor pieces. End tables, chairs, artwork, and of course, glassware! If I'm not redecorating a room in my house, I'm hosting a dinner party all with my finds from estate sales or thrift stores. Imagining the perfect space or tablescape and finding second-hand treasures to make them a reality is my favorite creative outlet. You can keep up with those adventures at www.MissKris.com

What is something you are excited about in 2022?

The end of the year. lol That sounds so dramatic, but honestly, the last three weeks of December are when I do my best life planning. In December, work slows down for me, and it's when I get a moment to reflect on my hits and misses of the year and think about my professional and personal goals for the new year. I also like that almost everyone is taking it slow during that time, so I don't feel the pressure to be busy. It is a time for us to all stop, relax, and rejuvenate. I'm really looking forward to it this year!
